Polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylenterephthalate is a thermoplastic resin suitable for food contact, belonging to the polyester family. Depending on production processes and thermal history, polyethylene terephthalate can exist in an amorphous (transparent) or semi-crystalline (white and opaque) form.
It is also used for its electrical properties, chemical resistance, high temperature performance, self-extinguishing properties and moulding speed.
